How does the FOS2 operate?

Everyone knows apple is red and banana is yellow. Fresh blood is red and a suffocated person turns purplish blue.The reason is simple. Apple will absorb most of the light spectrum except red. The red light was reflected and picked up by our eyes and perceived as red. The same theory applies. Oxy-hemoglobin and hemoglobin have different light absorption feature, in particularly in the spectrum of (600nm - 1000nm). The Oximeter sheds light of different wave length (660nm and 910nm) to the finger and the transmitted light was picked up by a photoelectric sensor. The strength of light was quantified by a DA converter. The difference in absorption of the 2 wave-lenght light under different phase of a pulse was quantified and input into the micro-chip. The ratio of the 2 different form of hemoglobin will thus be calculated. Since the method does not cause pain, and can provide real-time continuous monitor. Its application is extensive.

Thanks for its non-invasiveness, high accuracy and reliability, the Oximeter is suitable for a wide diversity of patients groups and scenario. Hospital (Operation Theatre, Endoscopy Unit, High-dependence Unit), clinic, elderly home, to home use, sports centers...

The Oximeter did not offer audible beeps, alarm, or print out. It is also not suitable for patients with heart rate of less than 30 beat-per-minute or more than 235 bpm. It could not measure SpO2 of less than 70% (living patient cannot survive at this level for more than 30 seconds) And finally it is not designed to be used with water spillage. If that is what you are asking for, we have other products that can suit that purpose. However, if that is not the case (which we believe so), the MediTech FOS2 oximeter is only selling at 1/4 of the other famous brand product (e.g. NecXXor, GX OheXX)...and at 1/10 of the cost of the desktop model.     Pulse oximetry uses a dual wavelength light emitter to shed red and infrared light through the fingertip, a reasonably translucent site with good blood flow.
